Chapter Three: Chocolate Love
The next day, I didn’t have the chance to meet him again. The next tour activity allowed us to roam the city. It felt good just hanging out in town like we live there. Rui “fortunately” almost got into an accident and injured her foot. “Fortunately” because she was saved by this prince-like guy and I can see sparks flying all around them. Misaki and Chie felt it too so we decided to leave Rui to this guy.
As Rui seems to have been swept away by her prince, it leaves Chie, Misaki and me to continue with the tour. Today’s activity included making home-made chocolate cakes which Japanese girls make for their love ones on Valentine’s Day. We eagerly tried making our own cakes as our instructor demonstrated.
“I don’t think this is how it’s supposed to look like.” I whispered to my friends. My cake has taken an odd shape far from the heart form I wanted. I looked around at the others who also attended the lesson. I saw a familiar figure standing one table away from mine. He was earnestly working on his chocolate, and then I realized why he looked so familiar before. He was the guy I saw at the festival making the same earnest face as he wrote his wish on the amulet. He is the same guy who also earnestly helped me find my keychain.
I slowly distanced myself from my friends and went to peek at the cake he was working on. He noticed me approaching and smiled at me.
“Hey, how are you doing?” he asked referring to my cake. I looked behind me at my disfigured cake then looked at his.
“Not good unless you only consider abstract cakes. Yours looks rather nice though.” I commented.
He laughed, “I guess you could say, I just got talent.” Then he winked at me.
Did I mention how good-looking he is and with that wink, I think my spirit just went to heaven.
“Here, you can have it if you like uhm…” I realized I still haven’t told him my name.
I blinked a couple of times despite myself. I can’t believe he’s giving me the cake he made.
“Byul. T-That’s my name.” I stuttered, checking my list mentally again.
“Byul, a star. Nice. I’m Yun Ho, Jung Yun Ho.” He introduced himself and took my hands. I thought he was going to shook my hand, I wondered why both my hands, but instead he put his cake in the box and placed it my outstretched hands.
“Can I really have it?” I asked again. He nodded. “Arigatou!” I exclaimed. My friends were calling me just then so I had to go back before they found out what I’ve been up to.
“Thank you for coming Ma’am! Please come again.” He stated then laughed as I turned to leave.
“I will.” I smiled back playing along. I went off carrying the cake which I shared with my friends when we got back to the hotel after going to the shopping district to…well…shop. The cake was really deliciously chocolaty. I still didn’t tell my friends where I really got it but they also don’t believe when I told them I made it. I know I wasn’t the one who made it but do they really think I can’t make something like this cake? Seriously, they don’t have any faith.
