You treat me like a rose. You gave me room to grow. You shone the light of love on me, and gave me air so I can breathe. You open doors that close, in a world where anything goes. You gave me strength so I stand tall within this bed of earth just like a rose.
Why is such a dramatic love song being played in the airport? I thought to myself. And it’s an old one at that. What happened to Japan? I chuckled.
A bouquet of red and white roses is floating in front of me?
No. Someone is holding it from behind me.
“Did I make you wait long? Gomen..” He smiled at me sheepishly. He doesn’t look sorry at all.
I raised an eyebrow, and smiled back.
“Daijoubo. You already made up for it.” I finally managed to say. For the moment he appeared in front of me I was just simply looking at him. Gazing at the face I’ve only managed to see through the webcam, through numerous video calls and multimedia messages, through photos sent through air mail in a span of one year.
Nothing much has changed. He’s still the same Sho who sent me off emotionally and romantically.
He has his eyes fixed on me too. In the same way I am. I wonder how he sees me. Does he still see the same girl he had expressed his love to before? Or does he not anymore?
He was the one who first broke off our staring contest, handed me the bouquet, and sat down beside me.
“Okaeri nasai.” I heard him say.
“Samishi katta desu.” I spoke as I looked his way.
“Samishi katta desu.” He hugged my by the shoulders as he spoke the words.
I almost desperately hugged him back by wrapping my arms around his waist tightly. I missed him. I missed having him as close as this. I felt him kissing my hair affectionately like he always used to. It’s nice to hold him for real after a year of being a part, feel his warmth, smell his scent, hear his heart beating…I’m finally with the man I love once again.
“Will you count the roses for me?” He whispered.
“Huh?” I pulled away. “Doushite?”
“Just do so…count from inner rose to outer roses”
“Ichi, ni, san…juu ni.” The last one had a ribbon attached to it. A green one which was almost unnoticeable for it blended well with the color of the leaves. I looked up at him who is smiling in anticipation. I pulled the ribbon out and saw a platinum ring with three-tiny-diamonds studs tied to it at the end.
“Oh my God!” I covered my lips that just won’t close in happiness. I felt the side of my eyes stinging, then the tears rolling down after. It felt surreal.
“Marry me.” He uttered. The moment he did so, I knew the answer to my questions. He still sees me as the same girl he said he would like to spend the rest of his lifetime with. As for his pronouncement, I already knew long before that what my response with be. I have been anticipating and dreaming of this day.
“No.” I kidded.
“I wasn’t asking you. I was telling you to do so.” He smirked “Marry me.”.
“God! You’re hopeless…” I told him like I used too as I embraced him once more.
“Yes, yes, yes!” I whispered to his ear over and over and over again.
“We’re getting married! Woohoo!” I heard him shout out loud for everyone to hear.
“We most definitely are!.” I shouted as well
We chucked seeing the weird looks the other people gave us. Some were smiling as though congratulating us. Some raised their eyebrows annoyed. Some looked at us as if were crazy. We couldn’t care less. We are happy.
“Anata wo aishite imasu Satoshi Utami.”
“Anata wo aishite imasu Sakurai Sho.”
“Meet me halfway.” I told him.
And meet halfway we did, sealing the promise of sharing the rest of our lifetime and beyond with each other with a searing kiss. I don’t care if there are so many people around us; all I see is him and me inside our love bubble at the moment.
Today, I have another everytime memory of him.
Everytime I see red and white roses, a green ribbon, and a ring…
I would hear you saying the words once again.
“How often is everytime?”
“As often as we will be together from now on love.”
My first ever completed fanfic! I had started another one before this.
Err…I know it’s not that good. My being a novice is quite noticeable.
Anyways, there was a not so hidden theme in each of the 5 chapters.
Did you notice? Haha!
Whether or not I’ll be writing another one after this is a mystery.
Inspiration doesn’t strike me that much.
