Diary Entries:

Diary Entry #4: Sunrise

To say that life has been tough in the last few months would be an understatement. It seems like the series of bad news is never ending. However, I remain hopeful that things will feel normal, at least as normal as possible, and that the things that I have been praying for will slowly come true.

Here’s a video of the sun rising which I took in the midst of the lockdown here in the UK.

Diary Entry #3: 2018 Travels

My 2018 has been very eventful. I started the year qualifying to work as a Nurse in the UK and started to learn just how different the health care system is here compared to the Philippines or to Saudi Arabia, two countries where I used to practice my profession. As happy as I was for the new experience, it has also been very stressful. It made me realize just how much power we have in numbers, because if there is something this country needs to make the health care system better it would be people. Dedicated and well-trained ones.

To deal with the stress, I turned to travelling as my main source of rejuvenation. Travelling to nearby places like Central London and Birmingham. Finally, at the last half of the year I started travelling outside of this country. Scotland then Paris. I hope to continue on with this lifestyle in the last two months of 2018 and hopefully next year as well.

Diary Entry #2: Roomshare Experience

Going to the capital city especially staying in Makati City is not the first time for me. I have been there for more than 10 times and even lived there for more than 2 months, I know the city enough for me not to feel scared about getting lost and not arriving for my appointment on time. This, however, I wanted to try something new. So, instead of staying with a relative or booking at the hotel I usually go to, I decided to book a bedspace in a hotel/hostel that offers a room-sharing. This comes from the fact that I wanted to meet new people and have an exciting 6D5N trip despite the idea that the purpose of my travel can actually alter the course of my life.

A little past noon of the 02/19 after a flight delay I was already on my way there. Upon arrival, the front desk girl verified my booking and identity. It was all normal until she told me that the room I have booked is not yet vacated. Apparently, the guest decided to extend her stay. I was supposed to be in 4-bed share room for female only. She told me she would upgrade me to a 2-bed share room instead, free of charge at that, and I agreed. I mean, I can still make friends and it is a better option. Then, came the surprise...[SURPRISE!]the other occupant is a MALE guest who I thought was Filipino but is actually a Hong Kong national. Surprise, surprise indeed.

I gauged him and I didn't feel any sense of danger so I decided to just shrug it off. I even slept so soundly that night after reading some notes I had to.

When I woke up the next day, he was still asleep so we weren't able to get acquainted. I showered and dressed-up for my NMC Computed-based test inside the huge female bathroom, yes, thankfullly we had separated bathrooms. It was after breakfast when he finally spoke to me and asked me if I am going to a test since he saw me sort of studying and I asked him if he was there so work or business. We were like, "you guessed it right" "yes, I am" "good luck" "enjoy your day" and "see you." That was still conversation.

By the evening, I got a notification of my test reports and with God's grace I passed. I was so happy I decided to call friend who is living nearby and we decided to head to Makati Avenue for some Korean food and chitchat. We also passed by Japanese convenience store which to my delight was selling Pino Ice Cream which is being endorsed by my favorite Japanese celebrity Sakurai Sho. It was a fun night indeed and it felt good to catch up with Sharon.

When I arrived, he was on mini living room and busy on his mac. He was so glued that I didn't expect he'd notice me but he did say "good evening"...I was thinking this is still such boring uneventful trip but the next more almost gave me a heart attack. IMAGINE THIS: When I opened my eyes I was greeted by the sight of a man with abs on his trunks only lifting some weights and doing push-ups. I was stunned and speechless but my crazy roommate is naughty afterall, that he gave me a smirk, placed his hands on his hips and said "good morning"...My reply was certainly throathy and I am sure he was laughing out loud in his head with the look on my face. In my head, I was saying, "Well, it really is a GOOD MORNING!" I actually enjoyed my breakfast more that day and was in high spirits the entire day despite how crazy DFA made me. Second pigging out day.

The next day was uneventful, I had nothing to do and decided to just go the normal places I would always go to whenever I am there ---- CHURCHES.
I attended mass that day and prayed in PEAs. By lunch, I opted to go back to the hotel and just get lunch in the nearby Mini Stop. It was then that we finally got to know each other and I finally knew of my roommate's name. Initials? J-M-J. It was nice and I can finally say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! I made friends with a stranger. It was even weird because when I came home really late the following night we was still up and waiting for me to arrive. He even said that he was worried I got lost since I not from Luzon. I told him I'm well-versed in tagalog and have lived in that area too. We said the nicest good nights that night.

Shopping. A trip wouldn't be complete without this. The next day I decided to take the MRT to go buy some stuff and eat some food. I ended up in a hidden Japanese restaurant which served a really delicious and filling shoyo-ramen. The ambiance was perfect for a solo traveller like me too.

To sum it up. I was able to accomplish everything that I had to do on this trip. I wished it could have been better though, still, there will still be a lot of opportunities in the future.

Ariana Grande, John Legend - Beauty and the Beast (From "Beauty and the ...

They're both great singers but the original one was very special to me so this will take some getting used to.

The Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson version reminds me of Sunday Mornings with my family as a child and singing along to it upon arriving from church, after attending the early morning mass.

Diary Entry #1 : My 27th.

I had always thought that I could have my life planned out. That's why I said that by 27 I would have a stable job in an English-speaking country and married so I can have a child before I turn 30. However, life will not always go as you would want it to. A lot of things happened that changed the course of my life. I found myself unemployed and studying to be a Registered Nurse of a certain country and without a boyfriend as I turned 27 this year.

I thought I would be devastated but I was not, I was just somehow frustrated with myself. Anyway, I went to church to thank God for giving me another year to live and to achieve all my goals and aspirations. There something magical happened. It seemed like the Almighty has a message to send out to comfort me because the priest's homily hit me straight. He talked about how everyone would have different times for them to reach their dreams, that some would get to do a shortcut while there are those who are destined to take the longer road. He talked about beauty of waiting and how God teaches us to have patience. I almost cried if only I did not have three of my younger cousins in tow.

Miss Universe Q&A (Philippines)

Miss Universe is one of the most loved events by the Filipino audience.

With our very own Pia Wurtzbach winning the crown last year after a drought of more than four decades, the Philippines has even become more fanatical of the competition.

Today, the 65th Miss Universe was held in our country and we hoped that our representative would make it. Unfortunately, she did not. However, she still made us all proud because becoming part of the Top 6 among 86 beautiful candidates from different nations and ethnicity is already an accomplishment. We are also not angry about it because we knew those three girls who made it to the Top 3 deserved their spot.

So, where did it go wrong? Of course, during the Question and Answer which we honestly had been anxious about and is our bet's weakness. Now, let me try to answer the question she was asked during the Q&A for the Top 6.

What is the most significant change you've seen in the world in the past 10 years?

Answer #1:

"I would have to say technology, not only did it literally advanced tremendously. It has also become one of the biggest platforms to bring about love and unity by connection people from different nations. Moreover, it became a tool for change by being a venue for the sentiments of the majority to be heard in a global scale and to inform everyone about the major and important events which are relevant right now."

Answer #2:

"I would have to say technology, not only in terms of how advanced it has become but in the way that it is used. Before, people use it to communicate with their loved ones or to make work easier. Now, however, people use it to create change in a global scale by connecting with the rest of the world to promote their advocacy like women empowerment and environmental protection and by informing everyone about the issues that needs to be addressed for the good of everyone."

(no subject)

You're my sanity. In this world which is teaching me to be someone who's not me. When I am angered by people who use power to control the ones around them, when I am frustrated about not being able to speak out what's on my mind, when I am pushed to the edge due to the uncertainties I hear on a daily basis, when I feel empty as I smile in pretense, and when I think everything is just in a haywire.

One message from you takes me back from all the "crazy". You remind me that I still remain to be the person that I am, just stronger and coping with the reality of this harsh universe. That I am just simply playing a part in this never-ending act, and maybe I will soon land my most coveted role.

Then, my mind clears up and I find myself again.
